This qualification reflects the role of a security officer, responsible for maintaining safety and security by patrolling, protecting or guarding property while unarmed, and screening entry, monitoring behaviour and removing persons from premises. Security officers may work alone or work in a team environment under general supervision, operating with limited autonomy and judgement to complete routine but variable tasks, with some accountability and responsibility for their own outputs, work and learning.
Face-to-face in a classroom and practical training in a simulated environment for a minimum of 20 hours per week over 22 weeks delivery to achieve knowledge and skills defined in each unit of competency for this qualification.

This will be delivered over 24 weeks of course duration including 22 weeks delivery plus 2 weeks holidays. Students are required to attend a minimum of 20 scheduled supervised contact hours per week and dedicate approximately 6-7 hours per week (a total of 160 self-study hours over the course duration) to unsupervised learning activities.
